FOR THREE GENERATIONS WE BELIEVE AND
INNOVATE IN THE EMBROIDERY SECTOR
- San Gimignano -
The embroidery sector has always been our main focus. From the earliest craftwork to modern creations with laser and digital printing, Marval Ricami in San Gimignano is always a step ahead in the field of fabric work. Here is our history in the vast world of embroidery, where we have been operating for over 40 years.
At our
small family business, we were among the first to purchase such machinery. The
workmanship was very
special and
innovative for the times; the fabric was inserted into a wooden hoop and as if by miracle, embroidery gradually appeared.
The 60s
Our story begins here...
The 1970s saw the arrival of the first colour change machines; each embroidery head had five needles, allowing five different colours without removing these needles. Consequently, the cartons also changed and made wider than their predecessors to allow for new needle change controls. Despite the innovations, there was a need to increase the speed of the machines, especially for production, where the machines could no longer meet demand.
The new embroidery machines were no longer programmed with cardboard, but with an
8mm band with optical readout. This allowed the machine to move faster, from
300 to 500/600 stitches per minute. But this was not the only innovation; the programming of the designs was done on the computer with a considerable leap in quality and speed.
The 80s and 90s
The electronic age
In the 2000s, the world of embroidery was combined with a new process: the laser. This innovation was introduced in the creation of embroidery through laser cuts and/or engravings on fabric and leather. The years went by too fast until today, where we see embroidery enriching almost every single garment and more.
Thanks to technology, we also have the ability to combine it with printing, both digital and flexographic, in order to create very special workmanship.
